Product Introduction

Lithium hydroxide anhydrous is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula LiOH and CAS No. is 1310-65-2.  It is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. It can absorb carbon dioxide and water out of the air.

Battery grade lithium hydroxide  is mainly used to prepare ternary cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries such as NCM and NCA.

Product Application

Lithium ion batteries

Lithium hydroxide is mainly used in the production of cathode materials for lithium ion batteries such as lithium cobalt oxide and lithium iron phosphate. It is preferred over lithium carbonate as a precursor for lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxides.

Lithium based grease

Lithium based grease produced with lithium hydroxide has long service life, high resistance to water, good fire performance, difficult oxidation and stable performance during multiple heating - cooling - heating cycle, applicable temperature range can be from -50℃ ~ +300℃, widely used in military equipments, aircrafts, automobiles, rolling machines and various mechanical transmission parts of lubrication.

Carbon dioxide scrubbing

Lithium hydroxide is used in breathing gas purification systems for spacecraft, submarines and rebreathers to remove carbon dioxide from exhaled gas by producing lithium caronate and water.

2 LiOH + CO2 → Li2CO3 + H2O

Precursor

Lithium hydroxide, together with lithium carbonate,  is a key intermediate used in the production of other lithium compounds and salts, illustrated by its use in the production of lithium fluoride:

        LiOH + HF → LiF + H2O

Other applications

Lithium hydroxide is also widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, nuclear industry, metallurgy, glass and ceramics. It is an important lithium chemical raw material and is often used to prepare lithium salts and lithium soaps. It can be also used as electrolyte for alkaline storage batteries, lithium bromide refrigerator absorbing liquid, analytical reagents, photographic developer, etc.
